A key aspect of your OdeCloud journey as an independent consultant is tracking your time. The hours you log against tasks play a critical role as way to document your work and provide great visibility to your client, both on Time and Material and Retainer contracts. And of course your time entries help us generate the invoices we send to our clients. It's super important to keep your timesheets accurate and descriptive (applies to retainer contract as well), and make sure they're complete by the end of each month. This way, we can guarantee your payments are always on time!
To make time tracking an easy part of your routine, OdeCloud offers a few simple ways to log your hours. This ensures that keeping track of your time fits seamlessly into your workflow as a consultant.

FAQs
- [1] I work on a retainer, do I still have to track my time?
- [2] By when do I have to have all my time entered into the OdeCloud Time Tracker?
- [3] Do I need to send an invoice to OdeCloud? What if I am on a retainer contract?
- [4] What if my total time in a month is under or over the fixed-time agreement (retainer)?
Fixed Retainer Contract: If you are on a fixed monthly retainer for an OdeCloud client, OdeCloud will pay the set monthly payout if the actual time is over 80% of the hours allocated on the retainer. But, if less than 80% of the allocated hours are worked, the Consultant will bill for the actual hours worked that month (Time & Material), not the full retainer amount
You should aim to work within the set time and can carry over unused hours or make up overtime the next month. However, If your hours are consistently (for two months) 10% more or less than the agreed hours, we may adjust the hours moving forward.
